Description

A bespoke custom-made staircase from Winthill Engineering can be any size and any style. It is designed and built to your requirements. The staircase can be functional yet beautiful in its simplicity, or it can be ornate and fanciful. Regardless of style, our staircases celebrate the form and function of high-quality materials, including metal, wood and glass. Each staircase is designed to fit perfectly into your home, suit your lifestyle, and meet your budget.
Materials

Mild or stainless steel. Choice of timber for treads and handrail.
Finish

Powder coated, hot waxed raw steel or galvanised. Timber is typically treated with branded wood oil.

The Process

After an initial discussion, we request reference photographs. Our clients share photos of the existing staircase and in some instances, just the space where one used to be! We then visit the site to measure, sketch, talk and walk through the requirements. We consider the flow, access, any challenges, and more generally, how people move in the space.

We then provide hand sketches for feedback and offer material samples, before finalising the design and going into production.

What it includes

A bespoke staircase from Winthill Engineering comprises the stringers, treads, handrail, base rail and balustrade. We design, make, deliver and install all of these elements.

Our staircases are manufactured to comply with Approved Document Part K.

We project manage your new bespoke staircase from design to completion.

Staircase design ideas

It’s vital when commissioning a bespoke piece of furniture that the designer understands your style; what you like and dislike, and the kind of look you wish to achieve. This is why we ask our clients to share photographs, screenshots, links and cuttings for inspiration. They don’t even have to show staircases! This, coupled with a site visit gives us a better understanding of your requirements and preferred style.
